BENEVOLENT BILLIONAIRE Mark Zuckerberg has hired a team of 16 bodyguards to protect him from the outside world and, presumably, Facebook users.
Zuckerberg, a man who shoots and eats animals, has been shaken by some of the comments made at him online. Not everyone is a fan, apparently, and the data advertising magnate presumably has a few enemies. Those enemies may have threatened Zuckerberg once too often, and he has responded by hiring a room full of muscle to look after him, according to reports.
The Daily Telegraph said that Zuckerberg is just one of a collection of Silicon Valley wunderkinds with enemies and manly protection. We like the idea of him rolling with a protective posse a lot more than the idea of an armed Zuckerberg personally defending himself against threats.
Some of those threats must have really put the wind up him. The Telegraph, which has been reading a tabloid called Page Six, reported that the 16 heavies are kept at the Zuckerberg homestead, probably two to protect the money and two to protect the baby, while the rest follow the boy wonder around in a golf cart picking up his discarded sandals and getting in front of anyone who looks badly on their boss.
"He has guards over at his place," said a gossip source to the tabloid. "You're touching hundreds of millions of people. All the CEOs get threats, and they take them very seriously."
The source explained that the threats are directed at Zuckerberg's family. This is perhaps a bit cruel, and we remind those people that Mark is currently in the process of spending their inheritance for them.
Page Six added that Zuckerberg does not always roll with the full 16. We assume that resting is encouraged to share personal information in a circle, and discuss cats and lunch while doing weights.
